Attic Insulation

Heat rises, and in most houses built before 2010, it rises straight through the attic. We pull back the hatch, measure what’s there, and show you exactly where the gaps are. In older farmhouses and split-levels especially, we find spots where the original batt insulation has settled to half its labeled R-value. We install blown-in fiberglass, dense-packed cellulose, or mineral wool depending on your roof structure and whether you’re dealing with knob-and-tube wiring that needs clearance.

Wall Insulation

Exterior walls are trickier because you can’t see inside them without making a hole. For gutted remodels we use batts or spray foam. For finished walls we drill and fill with dense-pack cellulose, patching every hole with a matching plug so you can’t tell we were there. We’ve done this in hundred-year-old Victorians and in 1990s subdivisions where the builder skipped the exterior walls entirely to save a buck.

Crawl Space and Basement Insulation

Here in our climate, a cold crawl space pulls heat through the floor all winter and pumps humidity upstairs all summer. We insulate rim joists with closed-cell spray foam or rigid foam board, and we address the ground moisture that ruins everything if you ignore it. Every crawl space job includes a photo walkthrough so you see what we saw down there.

Spray Foam Insulation

Open-cell and closed-cell foam each have their place. Closed-cell gives you the highest R-value per inch and acts as its own vapor barrier, which matters in basements and exterior walls. Open-cell breathes better and works well in attic ceilings where you need some moisture transfer. We use Icynene, Demilec, and other products we trust, and we never oversell foam where batts or blown-in make more sense for your budget.

Insulation Removal and Replacement

Fire damage, rodent infestation, water saturation, or decades of compression, sometimes the old stuff has to come out before the new stuff goes in. We bag it, haul it, and treat the space for mold or odor if needed. Then we install fresh material with the right R-value for your zone. We photo-document the before condition for your insurance file, and we coordinate directly with adjusters when a claim is open.

Air Sealing

Insulation without air sealing is like a sweater with holes in it. We use blower-door testing to find the leaks, then seal them with caulk, foam, and gasketed covers before we add insulation. The attic hatch, recessed can lights, plumbing chases, and top plates of walls, these are the spots where your heated air is buying real estate in your neighbor’s yard. We find them and fix them.

Soundproofing Insulation

Interior walls and floors between levels, mineral wool batts or dense-packed cellulose cut the transfer of voices, footsteps, and TV noise. We’ve done this for home offices, in-law suites, and bedrooms above garages where the teenage drummer practices at 10 p.m.
