Locally Verified - Terms
The Locally Verified promise is our handshake with you. Every company that carries the Locally name agrees to five simple commitments: the owner’s name is public, the address is real, the license is verifiable, the voice on the phone belongs to the person who shows up, and the price quoted is the price invoiced. If something falls short, you have ninety days from the date of service to let us know. We’ll make it right. No forms written by lawyers, no phone trees, no runaround.
What’s Covered
- Workmanship that holds up. The repair, installation, or service was done to the standard a reasonable homeowner would expect. If it wasn’t, we’ll come back and fix it.
- Honest pricing. The estimate you were given before work began matches what you were charged. No surprises, no add-ons you didn’t agree to, no “while I’m here” inflation.
- On-time service. The window we gave you is the window. If we’re running late, we call. If we miss it entirely without calling, that’s on us.
- Make-it-right resolution. If a Locally company can’t or won’t resolve a valid issue, the family steps in. We coordinate directly with you and the owner to get to a fair outcome.
How to Make a Claim
Step one: Call the owner you hired. His name and number are on your invoice, on his truck, and on the Locally listing. Start there. Most of the time, he’ll pick up on the second ring and say “I’ll be there myself.”
Step two: Describe what happened, and do it within the ninety-day window. We don’t need a written complaint or a certified letter. A phone call works. A text to his cell works. What we need is a clear description of which promise wasn’t kept and when the work was done.
Step three: If you and the owner can’t sort it out directly, contact us at the family office. We’ll hear both sides, look at the facts, and coordinate a resolution. Sometimes that’s a refund. Sometimes it’s a return visit, no charge for that. Sometimes it’s an explanation that clears the air. The point is: you won’t be left talking to a recording in another time zone. The person who answers works for the same family that put its name on the line.
Conditions
This guarantee runs on good faith, which means we ask for the same in return. You’ll need to show proof of service, an invoice or receipt with the Locally company’s name and the date. We need reasonable access to the work area to inspect and fix what went wrong. And the issue needs to stem from normal residential use, not modification, neglect, or an act of God that no reasonable work could have prevented. We don’t cover work done by non-Locally companies, even if they claimed to be local. Verify before you call; that’s the whole point of the name.
The Locally Verified promise is not an insurance policy, a warranty of specific results, or a legal contract with monetary caps and arbitration clauses. It’s a standard of behavior among owner-operated businesses who answer to their neighbors. Ward Selby set it up that way in 1997 because he had watched too many folks get burned by outfits that looked local on paper and vanished when things went wrong. The accountability comes from the fact that the owner lives twenty minutes away, his kids go to school with yours, and he’s going to run into you again at the hardware store. That’s older than any contract, and it still works better.
Our values code is L.O.C.A.L.: Local roots, On time, Community first, Accountable, Loyal. Every company that carries the name pledges to all five. If you want to know whether a business is actually local, ask anyone on your street. Then look up the license, drive by the address, and call the number. If a person answers and says “here is my cell,” you’re probably talking to a Locally owner.
Terms may vary slightly by brand and local regulations.
